The Humanity of it All: JWW Statement on the Israel-Hamas War

As a nonprofit organization guided by Jewish values and dedicated to countering genocide around the world and the hate that leads to mass atrocities, Jewish World Watch (JWW) – like many across the globe – has deeply felt the ripples of the massacre in Israel on October 7th. We mourn with the families and friends of the 1,200 people murdered, 133 hostages that remain in captivity, and the over 200,000+ Israelis displaced by ongoing rocket fire. We are gravely concerned about the rising tide of violent antisemitism and calls for the destruction of the Jewish homeland.

JWW is also keenly attuned to the loss of life, pain, suffering, and destruction in Gaza. We are extremely concerned about starvation in Gaza, which is particularly dangerous for the most vulnerable among civilian populations: the young, the elderly, and the sick. At JWW, we believe in life, and that every person is a whole world. That is why we endorse our partner HIAS’ recent statement calling for the unconditional release of the hostages and global action to avert a famine.

Although JWW does not work in the Middle East, our longtime, trustworthy partners HIAS and International Medical Corps are providing lifesaving services in the region if you wish to donate to their efforts.

We remain dedicated to our mission of aiding survivors of armed conflict, genocide, and mass atrocities around the world that do not make the headlines: Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, China, Myannmar, and Tigray, for example. Please help us continue to provide critical services, from permagardens that prevent famine to the rescue of child soldiers and sex slaves, by donating today.
