Dear friends,
Today, on Yom HaShoah, we remember the horrors of the Holocaust, and we commemorate all who were lost. We also honor the survivors who through their very resilience have given hope to the world that even the darkest of times can be dispelled, and light can follow. The dual memories of loss and survival, sadness and hope coexist and inform us as we build a future for ourselves and the next generations.
We are in a dark time again now, as evil actors in Myanmar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Syria perpetrate new genocides and mass atrocities on innocent civilians. By supporting Jewish World Watch, you have made clear your belief that your own interventions to fight such evil can make a difference.
Darkness can come from unexpected places. Today, we are living in a world united by a deadly virus – a global plague threatening us all and stealing our loved ones. Even as we commemorate the Holocaust, we honor those we’ve lost, the survivors of this deadly menace, and those fighting to save lives.
In remembering the Holocaust today, we reinforce our pledge to not stand idly by when others are suffering.
In honor of those who perished, we refuse to turn away, no matter the obstacles we face.
Sending wishes for good health and safety from the Board and Staff of Jewish World Watch,
Susan Freudenheim
Executive Director
