We have penned a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, urging the U.S. to increase our humanitarian aid in the region and ramp up financial pressure on those responsible. Please take action by signing onto this letter by <a href=\"https:\/\/cqrcengage.com\/jww\/app\/sign-petition?4&amp;engagementId=511439\">clicking here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>You can read a portion of the letter below:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>We are gravely concerned by the escalating tensions in Ethiopia\u2019s Tigray region.\u00a0 Since November, the tensions between Ethiopia\u2019s new government and the Tigrayan people have escalated into a violent conflict that has, conservatively, taken 50,000 lives, including thousands of civilians, and risks the lives of many more Tigrayans.\u00a0 More than six months later, the fighting rages on, complicated by the involvement of forces from neighboring regions like Amhara and Eritrea. \u00a0 Meanwhile, most of the Tigrayan leadership remains at large, mobilizing a guerrilla army and broadcasting its defiance from mountain hideouts.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>JWW strongly urges the United States government in all its capacities, formal and informal, to quickly intervene on behalf of the Tigrayan people.\u00a0 While this conflict is the source from which the Tigrayan suffering flows, millions will die while negotiations are being held if the intervention is solely focused on ending the armed conflict.\u00a0 The United States can intervene with a humanitarian mission to save the lives of over 5 million Tigrayans at imminent risk of death by violence, starvation, and immediate and indefinite displacement.\u00a0 This intervention should take place in addition to diplomatic measures to resolve the armed conflict.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cqrcengage.com\/jww\/app\/sign-petition?4&amp;engagementId=511439\">Please click here to read the full letter and to take action.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are gravely concerned about what is happening in Tigray and believe the United States \u2013 along with other international powers \u2013 need to do more to curb the ongoing violence.
