{"id":38072,"date":"2020-08-17T17:12:24","date_gmt":"2020-08-17T17:12:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jww.org\/?p=38072"},"modified":"2020-08-17T17:12:24","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T17:12:24","slug":"sharing-our-mission-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jww.org\/site\/sharing-our-mission-together\/","title":{"rendered":"Sharing our mission together"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two weeks ago I was honored to join Jewish World Watch as its Executive Director.\u00a0 I was immediately welcomed by a team of people serving our organization on staff and our board to ensure that people facing genocide and mass atrocities are not forgotten.<\/p>\n<p>For the past 16 years, you have helped\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jww.org\/projects\/rohingya-housing\/\">house displaced<\/a>\u00a0Rohingya in Cox\u2019s Bazar, supported schools and organizations like\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jww.org\/projects\/educational-assistance\/\">ABFEC\/ Action Kivu<\/a>\u00a0which enables war-affected, impoverished children from villages in the South Kivu Province to receive an education in the DRC, provided\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jww.org\/projects\/medical-supply-shipment-syria\/\">emergency medical supplies<\/a>\u00a0in Syria and provided kidnapped young girls in danger of becoming \u201cbush wives\u201d find psychosocial support, medical care, and education at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jww.org\/projects\/bves-girls-center\/\">BVES Girls Cente<\/a>r. Together we&#8217;ve helped provide relief and resources while empowering and enabling organizations on-the-ground to treat those brutalized by conflict and helping to amplify voices to change policy and conditions for survivors.<\/p>\n<p>When COVID-19 struck, you\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jww.org\/covid-19-response\/\">stepped up<\/a>. The schools we helped build and the hospitals we supported over the years have transformed into the only places where people can gain access to water, food and protective gear. We\u2019ve launched a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jww.org\/marketplace\/\">marketplace<\/a>\u00a0where you can support the delivery of facemasks and food directly to communities.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the pandemic continues to spread, which means that our brothers and sisters in Chad, South Sudan, Myanmar, Syria and many of the other places we serve are even more at risk of the consequences of genocide and mass atrocities. With everything going on in our front yard, it\u2019s easy to feel inundated. But we cannot lose sight of the nearly 1 million displaced Rohingya and millions of Uyghur people being interned, \u201cre-educated,\u201d sterilized and tortured.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Today, on National Nonprofit Day, I\u2019m hoping that you\u2019ll dig deep.<\/strong>\u00a0Today, amid uncertainty in the world, let&#8217;s raise our voices and unequivocally unite to step outside ourselves, across boundaries and barriers and refuse to stand idly by as destructive forces ravage communities around the world.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/secure.e2rm.com\/registrant\/DonationPage.aspx?eventid=339943\">Please give now to Jewish World Watch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the months ahead, I\u2019ll be reaching out to you to learn about all of the ways our work has impacted you and how we can continue to grow together.
