Thanks largely to the supporters of Jewish World Watch, Cibalonza Mushagasha Chanceline has survived the unthinkable to exemplify an extraordinary story of resilience. As a young girl in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, she was raped and then abandoned by her family when they learned she was carrying her attacker\u2019s baby.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hated myself \u2026 I felt as if it was the end of my life.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the face of her tragedies, Cibalonza did not give up. She enrolled in a Jewish World Watch-sponsored teen mother’s program, where she learned to sew and earn a living.  With this new stability for her child and herself, she was able to go back to school, supported by an educational assistance program that your funds also made possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cI learned how to take care of my baby, love him and give him all the affection a child needs.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Now 23, Cibalonza is employed as a trained preschool teacher at the JWW-supported Congo Peace School, which focuses on transforming youth into peaceful leaders for tomorrow\u2019s Congo.<\/p>\n
