We have just closed the book on what was, in so many ways, an extremely difficult year. The Rohingya, Darfuris and Syrians, as well as the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Uyghurs in China – all survivors of genocides and mass atrocities – have needed our support more than ever. We have all also been deeply alarmed by multiple murderous outbursts of ethnically based hatred here in the U.S. The light amidst the darkness is that throughout the past year you have made clear that you care and want to make a difference.
