It’s that time of year again. The August Congressional recess is rapidly approaching, which means your Representatives will be home in their district offices. This is a perfect time for you to schedule a meeting with your Representative and Senators to discuss atrocities prevention, and update them on the situations in Sudan, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The power of a constituent is simple but effective: when you attend a Congressional meeting, you show your Representative, as a voter in their district, that you feel strongly about these issues, and therefore they should be compelled to take action. It’s a crucial part of our work, and we need your support.
If you are located in the greater Los Angeles area, we will be hosting summer advocacy training sessions at the JWW office. These sessions will go over the basics of meeting with your Representatives and provide you with policy and situational updates so you can be an informed advocate. From atrocities prevention strategies to situation updates from our conflict areas, you’ll leave these training sessions with a better understanding of the work JWW does, and how to be an effective advocate. We can also help schedule meetings with your Representative’s office.
If you are located outside of the LA area, no problem. We can provide you with the information you need to schedule your meeting, as well as important policy and situational updates.
If you are interested in joining us for the advocacy training sessions and summer meetings, or if you have any questions, feel free to email advocacy@jww.org for more information.
