The last year has been full of lessons. If there is one word that captures the spirit and motivation at JWW in 2021, it is resilience. Thanks to our supporters like you, we have continued to fulfill our mission with greater effectiveness and impact. While we had to pivot from our in-person programming and events, we engaged thousands online during virtual events, email, and social media. We launched new initiatives, expanded our reach and planted more seeds of opportunity.
Below are just a few ways we have cultivated lasting change thanks to your support.
aunched a Generation Justice Board of young professionals serving as a pipeline for future Board leadership;
mproved the opportunity for 8,400 Rohingya children living in the largest refugee camp in the world by providing a classroom and the resources to learn safely during the COVID-19 pandemic;
arnered partnerships to help pass CA legislation recognizing Uyghur human rights abuses, only the second such bill in the country.
elped address the urgent need to combat toxic masculinity and violence against women by opening a new support center in Beni, Democratic Republic of Congo;
rained nearly 300 new Darfuri refugees in Chad to plant gardens with viable food sources through Seeds of Survival since May 2021.
The needs of our international Empowerment partners remain ever urgent as we continue to combat the genocide of the Uyghurs in Northern China, the instability of the Rohingya living in refugee camps in Bangladesh, the massacres of Tigrayans over the last year and the lasting consequences of the atrocities in Darfur and the Congo.
We cannot do this vital, life-changing work without your generosity.
As we approach the holiday season, often the darkest time of year, let us radiate light into the world.
